PT 4 Allure utilizes controlled released pheromones to attract and trap stored product insects. Pheromones are chemical signals that members of the same species use to communicate about mating, aggregation, or danger. These traps simplify the inspection process and serve as valuable tools for assessing the effectiveness of insecticide applications.
PT 4 Allure traps can be strategically placed in food processing plants, warehouses, and other facilities where stored product insect infestations are suspected. They can also be used in kitchens and pantries of homes to detect and trap pests such as moths attracted to items like whole wheat flour, corn meal, dried fruits, and nuts.
To assemble the moth trap, separate the top and bottom of the trap and fold the perforated ends to form a three-dimensional shape. Peel off the paper cover of the adhesive on the pheromone packet and place it inside the trap. The male moths are attracted to the pheromone lure, which then attracts female moths to the trap.
For optimal use, refrigerate or freeze any unused pheromone packets to prolong their storage life. Handle the packets with tweezers or rubber gloves to prevent contamination, especially when preparing traps for multiple insect species. Avoid damaging the packet membrane by stapling, pinning, or nailing it to the trap. Do not peel the membrane apart.
PT 4 Allure Lure is effective against several related species of moths, including Almond moth, Mediterranean Flour moth, Raisin moth, and Tobacco moth. Refer to the product label for more information on usage and target pests. Each package includes 6 traps, 6 lures, and 6 loops for hanging.
To detect infestations within a facility, move traps from uninfested areas to where moths have been captured, increasing trap density as needed. Close inspection in areas with the highest trap catch will reveal the infestation source. Mass trapping can be achieved by placing one or more traps per 3,000 cubic feet, depending on the moth population size.
Inspect traps weekly, remove insects and debris, and replace traps if stickiness is reduced by dust or debris.
